Pretty shocking, right? Well, here's what it looks like now:
Obviously, we still have a few things to do in this room--light switch plates, for instance. "Add it to the list," is a phrase we've come to use at least hourly around here lately :) And the other side of the room isn't even done yet, although that wall paper is gone from every wall and the walls behind the wood paneling have been repaired and textured, so the hard part really is done. The rest just takes time, but somehow it's less bothersome when it's yours and you're putting your own stamp on it!

LOVE love love the kitchen re-do! I'm doing THE SAME thing with ours. We've been here a year, but I am knocking out a dividing wall, (david's knocking out the wall) and leaving one cabinet door-less.

It's amazing what a little (or a lot) of paint will do. It looks sooo much better. Love how you left some cupboards open and added the pop of color!

Your kitchen makeover is amazing! Gives me inspiration to do mine, although I don't know where I would ever find the time. I absolutely love the creamy color of the walls and cabinets. It is gorgeous!

I'm seriously impressed with this - it is so clean and bright looking.
I did the same with our kitchen. When we bought the house it was very dark and dated, sunflower yellow and ugly wood. Some paint and new knobs and it's a brand new space

It looks soooo mush brighter and much easier on the eye. Turqouise looks great too! The only thing that kinda looks outta place is the vent hood, but HD sells some fantastic spray paints for that. I painted all off my 30 year old ceiling fans,floor vents, switch plates and they look great.

I love the color scheme of your kitchen redo...and the avocado appliances and counter top actually look nice with it. Of course....I love a creaming light butter yellow with light turquoise too myself. I use it a lot in my house. I have yet to post photos of my kitchen but will soon. It has the same color of walls as your's but with white cabinets and I use accessories for the turquoise. Love seeing your house.
I think you did a marvelous job and without having to spend major bucks on new counter tops or stove and hood vent- incorporating the current big $ item color on the back of cabinets and then adding splashes of other cheery color did the trick of transforming this into a darling kitchen!!

I Love it!! I'm here from Better After. I've tried for years to convince my grandmother to paint over her very dark & depressing wood paneling in her living room AND kitchen. She refuses to listen. Maybe your beautiful after pics will up me convince her otherwise.

I like where you took the doors off your cabinets and you've dressed the insides really pretty! The detail in your cabinet doors is really nice and it shows up so much more now.

Okay, I'm a newbie to your blog (hello, bookmark) and love what you have done. It can be discouraging to see these great make overs that clearly cost a lot of money. I love that you left the same countertops and appliances and incorporated the color to make tie it all together. Beautiful!
I came here from Before and After. I just repainted my kitchen but I had to get a new counter. Mine was gross!! The sink was dark pink and worse. So I got new faucets, sink and counters, new floors (99 cent per square foot laminate wood) and painted. The walls are dark yellow and the cabinets are white. I paid my sister and her boyfriend for all the work. I'm in love with my "new" kitchen. I kept all the same accesories and curtains because I chose the paint to match them.
I love your kitchen redo. It's so retro and cool looking. Never knew the avocado could look so good (we had avocado cupboards and appliances when I was growing up lol).

(I didn't paint mine because we plan on selling in a couple of years and people tend to prefer vanilla builder than funky paint colors so I don't want to do anything "permanent" until we are in a more permanent house!)

Just lovely, so much lighter and brighter. Yep, I am one of those lurkers. I used to post comments all the time on the blogs I read, but so much of the time, there are never any replies to the people who take the time to post, not even to answer questions. I realize nobody can take the time to respond to every post, when they are a lot, but even a note like "thanks to everybody for responding" is nice.
